Investing in Its Own e-Commerce Future:

Fashion Retailer BLACKOUT Relies on fulfillmenttools

COLOGNE, December 12th, 2024:

– At the end of the year, the need for a smooth shopping experience, including fast order processing and simple and seamless customer service, is greater than ever. Swiss fashion retailer BLACKOUT is now leveraging the cloud-based solution from fulfillmenttools to handle the increased order volume during the peak shopping season – and to ensure its e-commerce performance is future-ready. The software allows retailers to seamlessly connect their brick-and-mortar stores with their online operations, creating a comprehensive omnichannel presence. This enables them to flexibly respond to their customers’ unique shopping needs.

In November and December, sales increase across almost all retail sectors, with a particularly notable growth in the online share of total sales during the Christmas period. This is because online retail is flourishing: according to the Federal Statistical Office, 82% of people of individuals aged 16 to 74 in Germany have already made an online purchase. In 2024, e-commerce (B2C) sales in Germany soared to a record high of 88.3 billion euros. This rapid growth poses a significant challenge for retailers, who must efficiently design the fulfillment process, i.e. the entire order processing, across all online and offline channels. This is where fulfillmenttools steps in, offering integrated solutions for order and inventory management, Click & Reserve, and returns processing.

Holistic “in-time” shopping and ordering experience

Founded in 2016, Swiss company BLACKOUT has expanded its operations beyond its online store to nearly 90 locations, offering trendy jeans and casual wear. The fulfillmenttools platform provides BLACKOUT with a highly efficient solution for modernizing and scaling both its online and offline store architecture and optimizing e-commerce processes: “ Our goal is to activate the entire store network in Switzerland, allowing BLACKOUT to meet new customer expectations much more efficiently and flexibly in the future,” explains Udo Rauch, Managing Director at fulfillmenttools. “For example, by eliminating the need to process returns, shipping and Click&Reserve orders from the German central warehouse, the retailer saves on transportation costs and guarantees shorter delivery times for its Swiss customers.” This approach increases the relevance of local stores even in times of crisis for brick-and-mortar retail and ensures a seamless customer experience across all touchpoints. Currently, the software is being tested in select stores and will be gradually implemented across the entire network.

Collaboration strengthens role as provider of innovative fulfillment solutions

In addition to fashion, the focus industries that fulfillmenttools supports with its cloud-based solutions for fulfillment processes include food, luxury goods, DIY & gardening and consumer electronics. By working with BLACKOUT, the company is strengthening its position in the fashion segment, further expanding its international activities and reinforcing its role as an innovative provider of cloud-based fulfillment solutions.
