You hear and read a lot about agile management. And rightly so! Because if it is lived out correctly, the concept brings advantages for all sides. For me, agility is more than just a buzzword – it’s a way of life. Our goal as management is not only to develop modern software for our customers, but also to create modern working conditions for our employees. Together as a team, we at fulfillmenttools can achieve our goals, adapt and continuously improve. It’s not about who makes the biggest contribution, but that we are successful together.

Focus on employees

As the managing director of a software company, I am aware that employees are the driver of our business in order to be truly successful. I know from my own experience how important it is that employees can identify with our company and are proud to work for us. That’s why we foster a “we” culture and are flexible and open to change. Our trust in each other strengthens our team spirit and helps us to be successful together.

Therefore, we have placed a high priority on the needs of our colleagues, whether through:

  • Open communication
  • Flexible working conditions
  • A pleasant working atmosphere
  • Genuine & open feedback culture
  • Reflective error culture without blame (that’s why we also call it learning culture)
  • Appreciation (positive as well as constructive)

Establish flat hierarchies

For me, agility also goes hand in hand with flat hierarchies and self-organized teams. This has helped us optimize our work processes more quickly and create an even stronger corporate culture. Everyone in the team has the opportunity to contribute ideas and suggestions and can help shape us as a company as well as our products, which leads to more cohesion and satisfaction in our daily work.

Of course, this also has an impact on our understanding of leadership: For us, leadership does not mean calling the shots, but setting the framework and continuously seeking the team’s input and questioning ourselves and our path. We actively listen in order to be able to react to new opportunities and changes at an early stage. This self-image helps enormously to make better decisions faster and also inspires our employees to develop.

We rely on the commitment and responsibility of every employee to achieve the goals we have set together. It is important to us that we work together as a team and can count on each other. That’s why we live and promote a holistic approach to responsibility, because each individual in the company bears responsibility for his or her tasks and for the big picture.
